The master plan for the Itz’ana Resort in Belize straddles a long peninsula, providing resort access to both the beach and a scenic lagoon. The master plan includes twenty-one multi-bedroom villas, eighteen one-bedroom cottages, a marina, a members club, a restaurant, and service buildings. Units take advantage of dramatic views and are open to outdoor terraces adjacent to the water. The commission included overseeing the construction of a prototype unit that developed construction techniques and details to be used throughout the complex. Interiors were completed in coordination with the New York-based designer Samuel Amoia.
Role: As the lead designer, I was responsible for the master plan, the marina units' design, and the public facilities' early design stages. I also coordinated the management of the beachside hotel and villas.
