Utile worked with the graphic designers, Visual Dialogue, through MassDevelopment's Commonwealth Gateway Cities Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) to propose a district rebranding strategy for downtown New Bedford. The study focused on the nexus of Union and Purchase Streets to create greater pedestrian connectivity across Union Street. The study focused on supporting existing businesses by establishing a graphic wayfinding system for the district, reallocating foot traffic onto the main streets through the redesign of a park, and connecting both sides of Union Street through a future art installation.
Role: As the lead designer and project manager, I was responsible for the design direction and coordination with the graphic design & branding firm.
